To qualify for general membership an applicant shall be at least twenty-one (21) years old or at least eighteen (18) years old and a verified member of an accredited, recognized, or approved fire training program or academy or a member of a recognized fire department.

To qualify for associate or honorary membership, an applicant shall be at least eighteen (18) years old.

Applicants must be of good standing and reputation in the community, not have been removed as a member from this or similar organization for disciplinary reasons and pass a criminal background check. Teamwork, interpersonal skills, ability to follow procedures, and reliability all count towards selection as a member.

    • Be able to perform as part of a team.

    • Have a commitment to serving your community.

    • Pass a background check.

  • Associate members are an essential part of the Tacoma Fire Buff Battalion. All though not a responder, they are the backbone of our operation. Associate members support in planning, setting up, and de-briefing.

  • Training, apparel, supplies, and an up close view of fire ground operations.


General Information

The Tacoma Fire Buff Battalion meets at 9 AM on the second Saturday of each month. We meet at the Station 8 conference room. Station 8 address is 4911 South Alaska St., Tacoma, WA.
